BA FASHION DESIGN

'Desconstruct' Research Page: I was inspired by several designers such as Comme des Garcons and Jacquemus for the way their garments are created. My concepts also related to the deconstruction of emotions aiming to looking at contrasts like comfort and conflict. I developed towards expressionism and its visual content, also by looking at artists like van Gogh and Emit Nodle. Created personal responses through photography.
Illustrations: Sketches that I did linking to the standwork that I did, aiming to visualise garments from the structures and shapes displayed from the initial research sketches.

Development 1:From sketches of initial illustrations, I was able to develop from it, leading to designing and understanding of possible construction. This also included the understanding of the different sections of the garment, visualising where specific details could be placed.

Development 2:  I developed from visually obtaining the shapes from my initial sketches. Also developed from understanding construction of the garment to developing the structure and placements of the different features of the garment.

Development 3: From experiments with placement of model(see below),I started to combine the features within my developments with layering onto the sketches, aiming to experiment with placement of all the different parts of the garment.

Development 4: Fabrication of methods to develop and create garment - Using problem solving skills to work out how to construct the garment and what to remove and how it shape it.

Final lineup for 'Deconstruct': Material swatches an technical flats for some of the garments. Also includes physical constructed garment from the lineup.
Examples of life drawing using marker pens (left) and using charcol and bamboo to create distance from the paper(middle). Also including a blind drawing(top right) and sketching with non-dominant hand(bottom right).

Collection of imagery from my own personal work. Aiming to use the features of my bedroom and was specifically inspired by my curtains and how they represent the difference between who I am to myself and my personality when in public, in other words how I aim to reveal the 'real' me.  With ideas of insecurity, personal futures and the idea of 'blooming' coming to mind, I aim to sketch from these inspirations.

Industry project: Tasked with the aim to create a collection for London designer Nasir Mazhar. This page shows my stand work, designing and development of garments and accessories. Also includes swatches of fabrics such as Jersey and satin silks, along with colour swatches.

Final Major project 'BLUEPRINTS CURE'. Looking at how the body is built and created and acts as the blueprint and how disfigurement or damage reflects on what is built, also showing how we aim to rebuild what is damaged. Looking at several inspirations such as scars, stitching decay architecture and disfigurement and responding to it from stand work and illustrations.
Pages showing the development of ideas from sketches to collages, experiments and designs.
Further developments, stand work, fabric swatches and designing. The image to the right show the skirt that I made.

'Detail' development board: Collection of design developments with garments and stand work. Ideas on colours and material swatches such as silk, leathers and wool.
